Reinforced with a 1/4-inch thick push bar, 1/2-inch thick quick attach plate, and 3/8-inch thick skid shoes, this brush cutter attachment is designed for strength and longevity. Frequently asked questions

How big of a tree can a skid steer brush mower cut?

A typical skid steer brush mower attachment can handle trees between 4 to 6 inches in diameter. Rut’s skid steer brush mower cutter is built to cut through up to 4 inches of dense material, depending on the hydraulic flow and type of vegetation. This capability makes it ideal for clearing land quickly and efficiently.

Will a skid steer brush mower attachment cut grass?

Absolutely. A well-designed skid steer brush mower like Rut’s model is engineered to cut not only grass but also brush, small trees, and thick undergrowth. The two-blade cutting system ensures clean, even cuts across a variety of ground conditions.

How often should I service my brush cutter attachment?

Routine maintenance is key to extending the lifespan of your brush cutter attachment. If you use your mower regularly, it’s a good idea to inspect and clean the components weekly. Keeping the blades and hydraulic system in good condition ensures optimal performance and safety.

How often should I sharpen the blades of my skid steer brush mower?

Blade sharpness largely depends on usage and the terrain you’re working on. For moderate use, sharpening your skid steer brush mower blades every five years may be sufficient. However, if you frequently encounter rocks, stumps, or hard ground, more frequent sharpening may be necessary.

Can I use a skid steer brush mower on wet grass?

Although the brush cutter attachment can technically operate on wet grass, it is generally recommended to mow in dry conditions. Wet grass can dull the blades faster and reduce cutting efficiency, potentially leading to uneven results and added maintenance.

How many acres can a skid steer brush mower cutter clear in a day?

Depending on the terrain, density of growth, and operator experience, a skid steer brush mower cutter can typically clear between 1 to 4 acres in a standard workday. The wide cutting path and high blade speed of Rut’s mower allow for fast, efficient clearing with minimal downtime.

Let me start by mentioning – I hardly ever leave a review, good or bad. However, my experience with my Rut purchase was exceptional and I wanted to pass along some praise to this Made in the USA company. I purchased the brush cutter model, 72 inch, at 16 gpm about a year ago. I run it on an older skid steer, Case 1845c. Finally had a good size clearing job to test it out. The job was about an acre that had not been maintained for 3-4 years in South Carolina – lots of saplings, weeds, blackberries, etc. The cutter exceeded my expectations (I don’t say that often). Just simply leveled it in a reasonable amount of time, mulched it up, and spit it out. The landowner could not believe how well the job turned out – the first time they could walk the property. Thanks Rut! Keep up the good work.
